Megaptera novaeangliae

Three Humpback Whales surface side-by side-by side after a dive into the Monterey Bay. They were there feeding on krill. A moment later they surfaced again, so close in front of our boat we thought we might collide. The whales dodged gracefully.

Photographed at Monterey Bay, "Soquel Hole." in Central California on July 4, 2012 with a Nikon D300 with 80-400mm zoom lens, ISO 320.
